Learn to pick paint colours for your dream home at MYP workshop
WHEN selecting a paint colour for your home, start with your favourite and go from there.
"You will be staying in the house most of the time - being comfortable matters the most," said Shelly Chan, marketing manager at Nippon Paint Singapore, who shared some tips with My Paper on how to select perfect hues for one's home.
For those with design themes in mind, it would be good to research some related images, find the core colours and narrow down the colour selection, she added.
As for what not to do when choosing a shade for your walls, Ms Chan stressed that one should "never be afraid to explore".
"Fifty shades of white are not the only way to make a space bright and spacious," she pointed out.
Another good move is to view the paint hues under proper lighting, away from direct or unnatural sunlight.
Ms Chan will be sharing more on colour psychology as well as tips on how to explore and complement colours to a home design theme at a My First Home with My Paper Workshop on June 4.
The workshop, "Designing My First Home Into My Dream Home" at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, also features talks by two other speakers.
George Budiman, president of the Interior Design Confederation Singapore, will touch on how to make the best use of interior space.
Lynette Tan, director of customer relationship management at SP Services, will talk about saving on utility bills with a smart app.
Participants stand to win paint starter kits worth $100 as well as standing soap dispensers and tumbler holders.
