Learn to cook European dishes at Salon Gourmet 2015

LOVE European cuisine and want to learn how to make delectable European dishes?

You can do so at the Flavours of Europe Culinary Workshops being held on March 7 and 8, as part of Salon Gourmet 2015.

The year-long gourmet festival, which will begin on Sunday, is organised by Sphere Exhibits, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings.

The culinary maestros featured will include two Michelin-rated chefs: Jean-Yves Leuranguer, who has a one-Michelin-starred restaurant, Fouquet's, in Paris and Ronan Kervarrec, who helms the two-starred La Chevre D'or in Nice.

Eight renowned chefs - such as Martin Satow from Grand Hyatt Singapore and Jean-Philippe Patruno of UNA at One Rochester - will share their expertise in preparing signature dishes that can be easily prepared at home.

There will be four one-hour demonstrations per day, in the comfort of the ToTT Cooking Studio in Dunearn Road.

Aside from workshops, food lovers can look forward to more than 12 culinary events ranging from evening soirees, cooking demonstrations and wine-pairing dinners featuring dishes such as barigoule of escargot with artichoke and tomato, and roast baby pig with apple. Some of the wines and spirits featured will include Grupo Vega Sicilia, Chateau Grand Puy-Lacoste and Snow Leopard.

The centrepiece of Salon Gourmet 2015 is the one-time-only Culinary Stars of Europe Dinner, where five leading Singapore-based European chefs will come together to cook for guests.

Accompanying the exclusive dinner will be the wines of Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), such as the Lengende R Bordeaux Blanc and the Amancaya.

Throughout the year, there will also be monthly dinners and dining promotions for HSBC cardholders.

The events will be held at critically acclaimed European dining establishments including Scotts 27, Raffles Grill, Clifford, Stellar at 1-Altitude, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Bar-Roque Grill and Buyan Russian Restaurant & Caviar Bar.

Tickets are sold separately for different events; tickets to the Flavours of Europe Culinary Workshops cost $25 (excluding taxes) each. HSBC cardholders enjoy 20 per cent off on all Salon Gourmet events.
