Her story so far
Born Bae Su Ji, she is known by her stage name Suzy. She started as an online shopping model. According to reports, she was a 15-year-old high school student when she took part in a TV talent show and was spotted by her agency, JYP Entertainment. In 2010, she joined Miss A, a group formed by JYP.
Her role in Dream High won her a Best New Actress Award at the KBS Drama Awards in 2011. She also starred in the dramas Big (2012) and Gu Family Book (2013).
She made her movie debut in the 2012 hit romance Architecture 101, about a woman who meets her college first-love after 17 years. Her performance as the younger version of the female lead led to her being dubbed the "Nation's First Love".
It also won her a Best New Actress prize at the Baeksang Arts Awards in 2012, a 20s Female Movie Star award at the Mnet 20's Choice Awards and a popularity award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
She is the first South Korean female celebrity to have more than one million followers on Twitter. Last April, she was No. 3 on a Forbes Korea list ranking top South Korean celebrities. Last December, she was No. 11 on entertainment review TCCandler.com's list of 100 Most Beautiful Faces 2014. The only South Korean celebrity ahead of her was Nana, member of South Korean K-pop band After School, at No. 1.
