Get set for a new dose of Fallout
BETHESDA Game Studios on Wednesday confirmed that it is preparing to launch a keenly anticipated new instalment of the blockbuster Fallout video-game franchise.
A trailer for Fallout 4 posted on YouTube revealed few details about the role-playing shooter game, but featured its trademark mix of 1950s Americana and a post-nuclear apocalypse.
"We know what this game means to everyone," said game director Todd Howard.
"Time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever."
While a video trailer at Fallout4.com provided only an enigmatic glimpse of the game, details are expected to be revealed at a press event being held by Bethesda at the major E3 video-game industry gathering in Los Angeles later this month.
The new instalment follows Fallout 3, which earned game-of-the-year accolades after its release in 2008, and a Fallout New Vegas spin-off two years later.
Versions of Fallout 4 are being tailored for play on Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 consoles, as well as on personal computers powered by Windows software.
