Egerton makes the leap as tenacious Games underdog
EDDIE THE EAGLE (PG13)
Sports drama/106 minutes/Opens tomorrow
TARON Egerton's likeability will soar only higher with this sweet dramedy.
He plays Michael "Eddie" Edwards, a spunky dreamer whose ambition to represent Britain in the Olympics is met with scepticism and hilarity.
He is clumsy, and his only Olympian quality is his never-say-die attitude.
The movie follows his quest to become the first British ski-jumper at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics with the help of alcoholic Bronson Peary (Hugh Jackman).
It's a true underdog story as we see how Eddie goes from a joke to a champ.
Eddie The Eagle is filled with inspirational cliches but due to Egerton's affability and the genuine rapport he shares with Jackman, this biopic is absolutely heartwarming and entertaining.
