Don't wait in line - pick next best place
AFTER paying for a holiday, many tourists expect to visit the best places at their destination, at least according to guide books and travel sites.
However, recommended tourist locations might not necessarily be the best places to go.
Some attractions are often overcrowded and one of the worst things to do on a holiday is to wait in line for hours just to get into an attraction.
According to a list of overrated American tourist attractions on Reddit, travellers shared their experiences visiting top destinations and proposed alternatives to avoid all the unpleasantness.
Love Disney World? So do a lot of other people. To avoid getting stuck in incredibly long lines, Reddit users suggested going to Universal Studios Orlando instead, which they say can be just as fun as Disney theme parks.
The lines can be shorter and the studios have a single-rider lane so every seat is filled up.
The Empire State Building is also another popular tourist attraction many people want to see when visiting New York City.
Even though it opens late, the building still gets lines even up till its closing time at 2am.
Reddit users say Top of the Rock - the observatory on top of Rockefeller Centre - is a better spot for viewing the Big Apple's majestic views with a shorter line.
From there, tourists will be able to see Central Park and the Empire State Building itself. To get an even more stunning view, tourists should head there at dusk or dawn, suggested Reddit users.
Other suggestions include visiting Frenchmen Street instead of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, and South Dakota's Badlands National Park in place of Mount Rushmore.
