Comics worth a read
HERE are four comic book titles worth checking out, instead of brooding over when X-Men: Days Of Future Past will become available on demand.
One caveat: Be alert. Comics creators have a way of switching franchises like NBA free agents in the off season.
ROCKET RACCOON BY SKOTTIE YOUNG (MARVEL)
A wisecracking raccoon with an attitude - and lots of guns. I mean, does it get any better than that? Spun off from the Guardians Of The Galaxy comic book.
MOON KNIGHT BY WARREN ELLIS AND DECLAN SHALVEY (MARVEL)
The ominous city by night and cryptic tales by Ellis, and spare and striking art by Shalvey. Think of Batman in white.
VELVET BY ED BRUBAKER AND STEVE EPTING (IMAGE)
A sophisticated espionage thriller written by Brubaker, one of the best creators working in comics today, who had the privilege of (temporarily) bumping off Captain America a few years back.
LAZARUS BY GREG RUCKA AND MICHAEL LARK (IMAGE)
A smart, grown-up take on dystopian science fiction. Hunger Games, eat your Young Adult heart out.
