Beats debuts $390 wireless headphones
APPLE'S Beats Electronics has unveiled new wireless headphones ahead of the holiday season.
The Solo2 Wireless headset, available this month for US$300 (S$390), connects to audio devices up to 9m away through Bluetooth technology, the company said on Wednesday.
Beats debuted the PowerBeats2 Wireless earphones in June for US$200.
Beats, acquired by iPhone-maker Apple earlier this year for US$3 billion, is aiming to woo consumers by making its best-selling headsets easier to use and ending the hassle of unravelling wires.
The company's wireless headphone revenue more than doubled this year through September, and its traditional Solo product holds first place in the headphone market, according to research firm NPD Group.
"The Solo2 is already a world-class headphone much lauded for its acoustics," Beats president Luke Wood said. "Now it joins our growing family of successful wireless products."
