Anderson returns to help anchor Baywatch film
THE babe of Baywatch is back.
Pamela Anderson, who rose to fame in the popular lifeguard TV series in the 1990s, has joined the cast of the movie reboot of the same name.
Actor Dwayne Johnson, who has a starring role in the upcoming Baywatch movie, revealed this on social media last week.
"She introduced the world to 'CJ Parker' and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation - for the most successful TV show of all time," he wrote on Instagram and Facebook, along with a photo that appeared to be snapped on the set.
"A pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our Baywatch cast. We couldn't have made this movie without you. Welcome home. Thrilled you had a blast with us!"
Viewers were introduced to Anderson's C. J. Parker character in 1992, whom she portrayed until 1997, donning the famous high-cut, red swimsuit.
But she would not be reprising the role in the movie, given that model Kelly Rohrbach has been named as Parker.
The original Baywatch drama revolves around a group of lifeguards who patrol the beaches of Los Angeles. Plot details for the movie remain unclear.
Besides Johnson, the film revival will also star Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra, among others.
It is directed by Seth Gordon.
It is set to hit cinemas on May 19 next year.
