MACAU INTERNATIONAL MARATHON
What: The Macau International Marathon was first hosted in 1981, and continues to attract runners around the world who seek to test their endurance (www.macaumarathon.com/en).
When: Dec 1
PROCESSION OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA
What: Each year, the former Portuguese colony celebrates the Procession of Our Lady of Fatima, which recalls the revelation of the Virgin Mary to peasant children in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal.
The procession starts from St Dominic's Church, with women dressed in white carrying the statue of the Virgin Mary, and progresses from Senado Square - via Praia Grande - to Penha Chapel, where a mass is held.
When: May 13 next year
DRUNKEN DRAGON FESTIVAL
What: This unusual festival is the most popular among tourists, during which groups of drunk men can be seen dancing their way through markets and lanes, while waving wooden dragons' heads and tails.
When: Between April and May; date to be confirmed
MACAU GRAND PRIX
What: This is one of the biggest events in Macau, which sees an influx of visitors each year and still excites 60 years on (www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo).
