Rent SingPost locker to send, claim parcels

SINGAPORE Post (SingPost) yesterday introduced the country's first open parcel locker service.

This will allow retailers and consumers to rent a locker to deliver and receive parcels, addressing the hassle of missing the deliveryman or arranging meet-ups for Carousell transactions.

"The service provides an innovative last-mile delivery option to blogshop owners, marketplace sellers and consumers," it said.

A seller can rent a POPStation locker at a location agreed with the buyer. The seller can deposit the parcel in the locker without the need for courier delivery or meeting the buyer.

The latter can collect any time within the rental period.

The 140 POPStation locations include Housing Board shopping complexes, community centres, post offices and tertiary institutions.

Lim Ann Nee, senior vice-president, SP Parcels, SingPost, said: "Since the inception of POPStation, we have seen how smart lockers have given retailers and consumers parcel- delivery flexibility that caters to today's busy lifestyles."

SingPost ran a one-month trial with online marketplaces and blogshops. About 50 per cent of the parcels were delivered outside office hours, with a 100 per cent collection rate.

Close to 90 per cent of the parcels were collected the next day.
