Givaudan opens its 2nd perfumery school here

FRAGRANCE and flavour company Givaudan yesterday opened a production hub and its second global perfumery school in Singapore.

At $100 million, these represent the largest global investment for the firm's fragrance division.

The campus is the first that the firm, which is headquartered in Switzerland, has set up outside of France.

Aimed at training and developing perfumers in Asia, the Fragrance Creative Centre Perfumery School offers expertise from consumer insights to fragrance evaluation facilities, Givaudan said.

It will serve as the firm's central location in the region for its growing Fine Fragrance business in Asia, added the company.

The Fragrance Creative Centre and Production Hub shows the company's strong commitment to high-growth regions, said Givaudan chief executive Gilles Andrier.

"We are especially excited to open our first Perfumery School campus located outside of France," said Mr Andrier.

"This marks a very significant milestone in our company's history and reinforces our commitment to Asia, Singapore and our customers in the region."

Economic Development Board chairman Beh Swan Gin said Givaudan's expansion bolsters Singapore's position as the key regional hub for new production innovation and global brand-building in the consumer businesses industry.
